For this piece I took a one handed sledgehammer and marred the face in order to create texture and then forged the copper scales you see. I then experimented with torched heat on the copper to see what kind of color I could get out of it and as you can see in the photo, I got an interesting and beautiful result. 

The Damascus for this piece was cut off of a larger billet that was used to make a culinary knife (a picture available under the culinary knives tab). Every screw was flame torched to obtain the matching brassy color.
